Imagine if, in the middle of this summer of skyrocketing gas prices, a polar explorer stumbled upon a lake full of engine-ready, unleaded gasoline. Not an endless reservoir, mind you, but a good one-week supply that literally could be sucked up, transported to the States and distributed to the masses with no muss or fuss.

For that one week, gas prices would plummet, people would drive everywhere and anyone with a spare kiddie pool in his or her backyard would fill it up with premium for later use.

Well, this past week at the Buick Open, we all experienced the ESPN Best Ball version of that scenario as the pros made more than enough birdies to go around. An astounding 27 players managed 20 or more birdies during their four rounds at the Buick Open, and 35 pros got their final scores to 10-under or better.
