The objective of the game is to correctly select who you think will be the winner in each of 14 ESPY categories. All contestants are also asked to submit answers to 4 tiebreaker questions, which will only be used to break a tie for the overall prize. You will automatically be brought through these steps after you signup to play and sign in. All selections can be changed until 8:00PM ET on February 12, 2001.

2. MAKING YOUR SELECTIONS: After creating an entry you will automatically be brought through three pages of the 14 ESPY categories. 5. GROUPS: You have the option to group yourself with friends, co-workers, or completely random fans by joining or creating a group. Within each group your entry will be automatically ranked. Most of the groups in the ESPY Challenge are public and can be joined at anytime until the game locks at 8:00PM ET on February 12, 2001. If you want to play with a specific group of people you know, create a private group and make it only accessible to those whom you have given the password. The creator of a group sets the group's name and password. Groups can have up to 50 members and you can move your entry from one group to the next until the beginning of the ESPY Broadcast without losing any of your total points. All of this is easily done on the main Group Directory page.

6. PRIZES/WINNER SELECTION: The final leaderboard will be posted the day following the ESPY broadcast. Due to legal reasons, the leaderboard will not be "official" until all winning entries have been examined and the winners return an affidavit. This process can take up to three weeks.

The Grand Prize will be awarded to the contestant whose entry has accumulated the most points. In the event of a tie between two or more entries, the winning entry will be determined by the following tiebreakers, in order of listing:
Tiebreaker #1 - How many total entrants will participate in the ESPY Challenge?
Tiebreaker #2 - How many total commercials will be shown during the telecast?
Tiebreaker #3 - How many winners will not be in a tuxedo?
Tiebreaker #4 - How many winners thank their mom?
In all cases in which a tiebreaker is necessary, an entry that does not win a tiebreaker is eliminated from consideration.

GRAND PRIZE (1): The entrant who accumulates the highest point total (and wins any pending tiebreaker) will receive: A trip for two to the 2002 ESPY awards in New York.

See the Official Rules and Prize Info for a more detailed description of the prize.
