RULES: PREPARING YOUR TEAM

After joining an ESPN.com Fantasy Football league, you will be taken to a "success" page offering you the opportunity to pre-rank your players, participate in the mock draft lobby or explore ESPN projections and other exclusive content. Click on the active links to do so. Click on the "Take Me To My League" button to be brought to your league home page.

Notice the "My Team" tab? There you will name your team and be able to access your team page, where you will be able to change any of the following features:

TEAM NAME
You can edit your team name by clicking on the "Edit Team Settings" link listed at the top of the "My Team" page. Both parts of your team name (location and nickname) have a maximum character length of fifteen (15) and a minimum of one (1) character. There are no unique team name restraints (so more than one team in a league could have the same name). You can also edit your team's abbreviation (1-4 characters). Since several pages in the game use only the abbreviation part of the name, we recommend you use one that can stand alone for these situations. For display purposes, it is also recommended that you keep your team name as short as possible, so that tables don't wrap.

NOTE: When you first join your league, your team might have already been named for you by the league manager, but your team name can be changed anytime during the season.

NOTE: Inappropriate, offensive and/or obscene league names are unacceptable and subject to change, and may result in further action (for more information, see Rules: Fair Play / Conduct).

CHOOSE TEAM LOGO
You have the option to give your team a logo. Logos can be created using our logo creation tool, or you can reference your own logo from the Web (custom leagues only). If you reference a logo from the Web, the logo will be automatically resized to 151 pixels wide and 129 pixels tall. Logos are displayed on several pages in the game and can be edited anytime during the season.

NOTE: You cannot upload a logo to our system. You must reference a logo on the Web.

SET YOUR DRAFT LIST
If your league uses either the live (snake), Auction or Autopick draft method, you have the option to pre-rank the players. The Pre-Rank Players page can be accessed from either your main team page or from the top left of the League Office page. On the page, rank players in the order of your preference. The current rankings are displayed under the "Set Your Rankings" column. To change these values, simply click, drag and drop players higher or lower, wherever you feel they belong in your custom ranking. For Auction drafts, you can simply edit the default dollar amount in the provided textbox.

Your changes will not be saved to the server until the "Save Rankings" button is clicked on the page. For Autopick draft leagues, the order of players determines the order in which players are drafted to your team (the system selects the highest-ranked player who is still available). For Live Online draft leagues, the rankings are used only if you do not pick a player in the allotted time limit (and you have no players on the pending pick queue).

NOTE: Once the draft lists are released, the system does not make any additions to the list of players, nor does it change any positions for players.

EDITING YOUR AUTOPICK STRATEGY

New to Fantasy Football 2009 is the ability to specify which position the system will draft each round in the case you are either disconnected during a draft or are not able to participate in it. The link for editing your draft strategy can be found on your main Team page before the draft begins by clicking on the "Edit Auto-Pick Strategy" link. Note this page is only available for leagues that use either the Live Snake or Autopick draft type. On the edit page each round of the draft is presented with a pulldown menu to select which position you want to draft during it. The default setting for all rounds is always "Best Available", which means the system will draft the highest remaining player from any position. If you change this to a particular position - ie "Running Back" - the system will draft the highest available player from that particular position.

On the page you are also presented with the option to set how many players at each position the system will draft for your team. This interface can be seen on the right side of the page in the "Position Limits" table. Simply set the minimum and maximum number of players you want the system to draft for each position. For example, if you only want the system to draft one (1) Place Kicker for your team, set both the Min. and Max. value here to "1".

NOTE: You can edit your draft strategy as often as you like until one hour before your scheduled draft time.
