BRIGGS DOMINATE 2009 NSL FROM START TO FINISH. SHOCKER BOWL III CHAMPS.

The D-Town Crashin' Briggs started the 2009 season with a 4 game winning streak, were 7-1 after 8 games, and after a slight scare from the Mogamba in the semi-finals, hammered the Favre's by 77 in Shocker Bowl III.

PLAYOFF RACE SHAKES OUT IN WEEKS 11-12
After some key games in week 12, it's down to one game to determine the final playoff spot. The loss by Favre Folds in the Playoffs guarantees that the 8-5 Dawgs, Briggs and Mogamba are all in. The week 13 game between the 7-6 Silver Eagles and Favre's will decide the last playoff spot. The only thing to decide after that is the seeding. All 5 teams still have a shot at the #1 seed. The Dawgs get it with a win. The Briggs get it with a win and Dawgs and Mogamba loss, and likewise for the Mogamba. The winner of the Eagles/Favre game gets it if all 3 8-5 teams lose and the winner of that game ends up with the most total points. At this point they are #1 (Eagles 1963) and #3 (Favre 1905). The Dawgs are #2 with 1930.

With the 6 game winning streak, the Dawgs have almost completed the last to first run, after being 2-4 after 6 games and 3 games behind the 5-1 Briggs. In the Taint Conference the Mogamba continue to dominate and will win their 2nd straight conference title with a win over the Beach Bombers

HUGE WEEK 10 IN THE NSL TURNS INTO 'THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY
With just about every game in week 10 having an affect on the playoff race, some games lived up to the billing while others resembled Lions vs Browns.

"The Good"- The Dawgs and Coronas went into their week 10 matchup with 5-4 records and a chance to take over 2nd place in the Duckbutter. The shootout ended with a 204 - 189 Dawgs victory and the 393 total points the highest in NSL history. This topped the Week 6 Silver Eagles 205 - 185 win over the Coronas, which tied the 2008 Week 7 Sniffers 216 - 174 victory over........ the Coronas. We probably shouldn't bring up the the Dawgs week 2 229 - 143 win over the Coronas. The Lime Squeezers are the poster boy for the fantasy football axiom that it's not about who you play, but when you play them.

More good - the Mogamba were seeking revenge for the Week 2 loss to the upstart Stupid Favre Named Team and in the battle for 1st place in the Taint lit up the Favre Douche's 195 - 130. The Mogamba have control in their quest for a 2nd straight Taint title. The Silver Eagles and the Bling were both looking to stay in the playoff hunt and the Eagles also went big with a 199 - 152 win.

"The Bad" - K-A One needed a win to stay within one game of the wild card spot and turned in a yawner in a 129 - 120 loss to the Beach Bombers. The Bombers and Mogamba both benefited from their blockbuster trade invovling Peyton Manning and Adrian Peterson. Also smelling pretty bad was the Sniffers in their 148 - 104 loss to the Redskins. This was another matchup of 4-5 teams looking to stay within 1 game of the wildcard.

The U-G-L-Y- When the Briggs 109 - 81 win over the Pickles first came over the wire, it was thought that this game may have set several records. But it didn't. The lowest scoring game in NSL history (162 points) came in week 5 of 2008 when K-A one and the Pickles tripped all over themselves in the K-A 89 - 73 win. It was also the lowest score by a winning team. For those of you who were wondering - the worst loss and lowest score by one team both came in the same game. In the inaugural week of the NSL, week 1 of 2007. The Silver Eagles hammered the Mogamba 233 - 71. That's actually 3 records in one game. Most points by one team, fewest points by one team and largest margin of victory (a.k.a. - worse ass spanking), 162 points. What's impressive about the 233 by the Eagles is that we didn't change the scoring to 2 points per 10 yards rushing until the 2008 season, a move that was made to balance out the passing and running games. Later in the 2007 season, the Damn Yankees did tie the Mogamba's record of futility with 71 in Week 8.

Did I mention that the Dawgs are now 6-0 all-time vs the Coronas, and have scored over 200 in the last 3..... "In this world, there's two kinds of people my friend, those with loaded guns and those who dig... you dig." - Clint Eastwood as 'Blondie'

Tony Soprano (r) and the Rhode Island Mogamba are your defending NSL Champs. Apparently Junior Soprano (l) is too uncoordinated to hold his thumb down... And Paulie Walnuts (m) looks way too comfortable (familiar) with the league trophy...
