NFL.com's Jason La Canfora reports that Fitzgerald's (right knee) teammate Kurt Warner is expected to announce his retirement on Friday.
Spin:
Swapping Warner for Matt Leinart at quarterback will probably be a setback for the Cardinals' passing game. However, Fitzgerald should still be among the first few receivers on 2010 draft boards.

Brown (ankle) is off crutches, according to the Dolphins web site.
Spin:
Brown should be recovered before any OTAs begin. Unless there is a new CBA, Brown will be back with Miami next season.

Jacobs underwent surgery to repair the torn meniscus cartilage in his right knee, the NY Daily News reports.
Spin:
Jacobs said everything feels good in his knee after the surgery, but he wishes he would have had the surgery early in the season instead of trying to play through the pain. "I would've got it done Week 1 and missed four or five weeks and came back and played. As the year went on I thought it was going to get better. But when I figured out it wasn't going to get better, it was too late. So I just kept going." Jacobs managed to rush for just 835 yards, five touchdowns and a 3.7 YPC average during the season. He should be healthy heading into the 2010 season.

Smith, who was originally slated for shoulder surgery this offseason, is seeking additional opinions and may not require an operation, reports MLive.com.
Spin:
If rehab solves the problem effectively, great - the less one goes under the knife the better. But Smith's 2010 is already tainted by his recent ACL surgery. His knee will most likely land him on the PUP list during training camp, and there's a chance he misses the start of the season.
