Thomas re-injured his ankle during the fourth quarter of the game Sunday, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Thomas had five carries for 16 rushing yards and one catch on one target for two receiving yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 24-20 win over the Patriots.
Offensive coordinator Mike Sherman acknowledged Monday that as the Dolphins began practice last week, they didn't expect Thomas (ankle) to be available for this past Sunday's game against the Steelers, the Miami Herald reports. "It was a possibility he might not be able to come back [this season]," Sherman noted. "(Last) Wednesday, we never envisioned him even playing this week. It's a credit to our training staff and to him. He did some things Friday we thought we might have a chance."
Thomas (ankle) had 16 carries for 105 rushing yards and a touchdown, as well as one catch on one target for four receiving yards Sunday against the Steelers.
Thomas' teammate, Lamar Miller, suffered a concussion Sunday against the Steelers and won't return.
Thomas (ankle) is active for Sunday's game at Pittsburgh.
