Each league consist of ten teams, which are divided into two five-team conferences -- East and West. Because leagues must have ten teams to be formed, multi- or single-list groups with fewer than ten teams are combined with other incomplete groups or "Ready" independent teams at the time of the draft. Leagues made up from more than one group do not retain a group name as a league name - they are given a number instead -- which can then be changed using the League Referenda (see below).
League Referenda
The league members have the ability to customize certain parameters of their league. League members may vote on:
1) League Name (6 votes required for change)
2) Disable Waivers (10 votes required)
3) Disable Trade Reviews (10 votes required)
League Index
The league index is used to equate teams in different leagues. To do this, leagues are graded and a score is given to each. This score is used as a multiplier to adjust a teams points. Teams that are in more competitive leagues will tend to have their points adjusted upwards.
The formula for calculating the league index is your league's total points divided by the top scoring league (your league/best league): 1.000 for the best league. A team's adjusted point total is the product of their league index and their team's total points scored (league index * total points).
