Fantasy ColumnistsSEAN ALLEN Updated: November 23, 2009 TIM KAVANAGH Updated: November 19, 2009 VICTORIA MATIASH Updated: November 18, 2009 NHL News WireBurns has been diagnosed with a concussion, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Spin: Burns missed Friday's game after becoming ill, but the ailment was later found to be a concussion which he thinks he suffered on Wednesday. It sounds like he'll miss several games as a result. Hossa (shoulder) is expected to be on the ice on Wednesday against the Sharks after the Hawks sent Bryan Bickell back to Rockford of the AHL on Monday, ESPN-AM 1000 in Chicago reports. Spin: With his anticipated first appearance in a Hawks's sweater, there will be a lot riding on Hossa to help put the team over the top. Hossa had targeted the game against the Sharks about a month ago. Bitz is expected to skate on a line with Marc Savard and Marco Sturm Monday against the Blues, the Boston Globe reports. Spin: It remains to be seen how long he skates with the skilled veteran duo, but it's a nice reward for the improving Bitz, who is coming off a strong game, Friday against Buffalo. Savard will return to the Bruins' lineup Monday after missing 15 games with a broken left foot, the Boston Globe reports. Spin: In his return, Savard is expected to skate on a line with Marco Sturm and Byron Bitz, but regardless of who he plays with, he's a fantasy-friendly point-a-game guy. Rask will get his fourth straight start Monday against the Blues, with Tim Thomas still dealing with a minor upper-body injury, the Boston Globe reports. Spin: Thomas continues to be able to suit up, which confirms the day-to-day nature of his injury. Meanwhile, the B's will welcome Marc Savard back to the lineup Monday, which can only help the team's chances of building off of back-to-back wins. Thomas, who is dealing with a minor upper-body injury, will back up Tuukka Rask for the fourth straight game Monday against the Blues, the Boston Globe reports. "It's one of those injuries that we have to allow him to get better," coach Claude Julien said. "Yet it could be something that could be cured on a day-to-day basis." Spin: That's pretty vague, but the fact that Thomas continues to suit up as a backup and that the B's have not called up another goalie seems to confirm the day-to-day nature of Thomas' issue. Volchenkov (elbow) participated in the morning skate on Monday, Slam.canoe.ca reports. Spin: He could be back in the lineup as early as Wednesday against the Devils if he gets through the next two days without experiencing another setback with his recovery. Khabibulin (back) did not skate on Monday, TSN.ca reports. Spin: The Oilers haven't revealed any plans for further testing just yet, but we wouldn't be surprised to see him undergo an MRI early this week if the pain and stiffness continue to be an issue.
