EdmEdmonton Oilers
Boyd Gordon
Apr 9: Gordon (shoulder) has been shut down for the season. With just two games left in the Oilers' season, they'll shut the center down to try to get him healthy for the summer. Gordon will finish the 2013-14 campaign with eight goals and 13 assists in 74 games.

Feb 13: Gordon enters the Olympic break with just two points over his last 12 contests. With a move to a top-six role not on the horizon, Gordon will probably struggle to provide consistent points for fantasy owners the rest of the way. Considering that an awful Edmonton defense routinely damages the plus/minus rating of their skaters, it's probably best for Gordon's owners to look elsewhere to replace his moderate scoring.

Jan 4: Gordon scored his sixth goal of the season during the Oilers' 5-2 loss to the Ducks on Friday. The goal was Gordon's first in 16 games and his first point in his last four. Obviously, he is not known for his scoring touch, but with a minus-11 rating and an average of just 14:57 of ice time, he's not doing much of anything for fantasy owners. And with just 12 penalty minutes on the season, he's not even contributing that way.

Dec 21: Gordon (face) returned to action to start the second period of Saturday's game. He had taken a puck to the face on the first shift of the game. He returned, repaired and ready for action. Great news for the Oilers and his owners.

Dec 21: Gordon took a puck to the face on the first shift of Saturday's game against St. Louis and went immediately to the Oilers' dressing room, reports CBC's Hockey Night in Canada. There's no word on the severity or whether he'll return. He was expected to shadow Alex Steen all night, so this could be a big loss for the Oilers if the injury is severe.

Dec 13: Gordon (shoulder) was activated from IR on Friday. Coach Dallas Eakins said Gordon is fully healthy and will be available Friday vs. the Canucks, but there's no guarantee that he'll be inserted into the lineup right away. Despite not enjoying a regular top-six role, Gordon was still reasonably productive before his injury with 11 points in 27 games.

Dec 12: Gordon (shoulder) will not play Thursday against the Bruins. Gordon's shoulder is still sore, so he will miss his sixth straight game. Gordon could miss more action with the Oilers playing every other day until the Christmas break, but he was able to skate Thursday, so he should be able to resume playing in the near future.

Dec 8: Oilers coach Dallas Eakins said Sunday that Gordon (undisclosed) is close to returning to the lineup. The Oilers deactivated Gordon on Friday, but with a backdated IR stint (to Nov. 30), he'll be eligible to return at any time. While Gordon took part in Saturday's morning skate, he appears questionable, at best, for Tuesday's game against Carolina.

Dec 6: Gordon (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Friday, Bob Stauffer of 630 CHED reports. Gordon had missed the previous three games with the injury and hadn't been practicing of late either, so it was clear he wasn't returning anytime soon. The Oilers recalled Anton Belov to take his place on the 23-man roster.

Dec 1: Gordon (undisclosed) will not play Sunday against the Stars. Gordon sat out the third period of Friday night's loss to the Blue Jackets due to whatever this injury is that is hindering his play. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Aug 4: Gordon could move up to the second line if Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (shoulder) is unable to start the season with the team, according to the Oilers web site. Gordon is not known as a high scoring forward, but does bring energy to his game. He would most likely play on a line with Nail Yakupov and David Perron if RNH isn't ready for opening night.
