Thomas Vanek News Archive
Vanek is expected to play on the Wild's top line while Zach Parise (upper body) remains unavailable, Rachel Blount of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Vanek scored a power-play goal in Saturday's win over Dallas.
Vanek has been accused of being involved in betting $230,000 on football with a bookie by a defendant during an investigation in a federal illegal gambling and money laundering case in Rochester, N.Y. where Vanek has appeared as a witness. However, Vanek's agent, Steve Bartlett, says his client is not subject to any investigation. "If you read it quickly or if you read it quickly, it almost alludes to the fact that Thomas Vanek was involved in money laundering, which is totally false," Bartlett told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "He is not the subject of any investigation or criminal charges or anything whatsoever. He was a witness against this guy who was the bookmaker. He was the guy that wanted money and Thomas paid it to him. Thomas wasn't involved in any bookmaking activities."
Vanek had the primary assist on both of Kyle Brodziak's third-period goals Thursday as the Wild erased a 3-1 lead and went on to beat the Sharks in a shootout.
Vanek had an assist in Tuesday's win over Boston. He skated on a new line with Nino Niederreiter and Kyle Brodziak, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
