Malkin has agreed to an eight-year, $76 million contract extension with the Penguins.

Malkin may have dealt with a shoulder concern throughout the Penguins' recently concluded playoff run, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Despite taking a team-high five shots, Malkin was held scoreless Monday in a 6-1, Game 2 loss.

Malkin lost his cool at the end of the second period Saturday night and fought Boston's Patrice Bergeron. He ended up with no points and a minus-1 rating to go along with that fighting major.

Malkin snapped a two-game pointless streak with a goal and an assist Friday night.
