Liriano (0-1) struck out seven and gave up just a single run on four hits and a walk over six innings Wednesday in a 1-0 loss to the Tigers.
The Pirates reinstated Liriano from the paternity list Monday.
Liriano (paternity) will make his next start Wednesday against Detroit, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Liriano will miss his Sunday start due to the birth of his daughter, Travis Sawchik of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Liriano went seven strong innings against the Reds on Monday, giving up two runs on two hits and three walks, striking out seven. He did not get a decision in the game.
Liriano, who will start for the Pirates on Opening Day, is healthy entering 2015. "At the end, the last couple of months, I felt a lot better," Liriano told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "I don't think I was 100 percent at all during the year. I was trying to fight through it and pitch every five days. This spring nothing is bothering me."
Liriano struck out six in four scoreless innings Saturday against Boston.
