McCutchen (left rib discomfort) is back in the lineup Wednesday against the Cardinals.
McCutchen, who left Tuesday's game with left rib discomfort, said he expects to play in Wednesday's series finale against the Cardinals, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
McCutchen was lifted from Tuesday's game against the Cardinals after five innings with left rib discomfort.
McCutchen went 3-for-4 with a solo home run Monday against the Cardinals.
McCutchen, who hit his 19th homer Sunday, says he's playing at less than full strength following a rib fracture. "It's good enough to play. It's good enough to swing," McCutchen told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "That's probably how it's going to be the rest of the season. It's going to be good enough."
McCutchen has six hits - including four home runs - in 11 career at-bats against Milwaukee's Sunday starter, Mike Fiers.
McCutchen crushed his 18th homer of the season Friday, going 2-for-5 with his first homer since belting a pair in Cincinnati on July 12.
McCutchen is hitless in eight at-bats since returning from the DL, an indication that his timing isn't quite right yet.
McCutchen went 0-for-4 for the second straight day Wednesday following his activation from the disabled list Tuesday.
