The Reds will employ more defensive shifts this season, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. A pitcher like Cueto or Mike Leake, who don't strike out as many batters as their teammates in the rotation, could benefit the most.
Cueto threw 45 pitches in his spring training opener Thursday and had no lingering issues with the lat injury that marred his 2013 season. "I felt like the ball was coming out really good today," Cueto said.
Cueto said Friday that he feels great and that he had no issues during the offseason, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
