Sandoval is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Twins, Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston reports.
Sandoval batted from the left side against Minnesota left-hander Glen Perkins and singled in Tuesday night's loss.
Manager John Farrell said there have been discussions "off and on" with Sandoval about the idea of giving up on switch-hitting, the Boston Globe reports. The third baseman is hitting .049 (2-for-41) batting right-handed this season.
Sandoval went 0-for-4 in his return to the starting lineup Monday. The third baseman sat out five games after getting hit by pitch on the left knee last week.
Sandoval (knee) is back in the lineup Monday against the Twins, Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald reports.
Sandoval (knee) was used as a pinch-hitter in Sunday's win over the Angels. He came in for Brock Holt, who left the game with an injury to his left hand, and singled in a run.
