"[Mesoraco]'s not going to be the player they want him to be with a bad hip," DeShields said Sunday. "I don't care where you put him. The main thing for him, right now, is to get healthy. It's obvious, to me, that he's injured, and he's not going to get better. It was even hurting him on his swings the other night in Columbus."
Mesoraco (hip) exited Wednesday's rehab game with soreness, but has a scheduled day off Thursday due to a death in the family, John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Mesoraco (hip) began a rehab assignment Monday and is 1-for-5 through two games thus far.
