Santana will get his third start of the season at catcher against the White Sox on Saturday, according to ESPN Chicago's Doug Padilla.
Santana will play catcher in the second half of Wednesday's doubleheader, the Indians' official Twitter feed reports.
Santana will open the season at third base, MLB.com reports. "Carlos is going to play third," manager Terry Francona said Tuesday. "To be honest with you, I don't have a crystal ball. I'm not sure you really need to have one. Things happen. I think, at the beginning of Spring Training, I said I thought we could be the best team with Carlos and Lonnie (Chisenhall). I'm not exactly sure how that's going to play itself out. I don't know if anybody really is [sure]."
Santana continues to play well at third base this spring, MLB.com reports. "He's done a terrific job," manager Terry Francona said. "I think he looks like a third baseman. No doubt, we have decisions to make, but I think he's earned our trust."
Santana received a positive report from his first appearance behind the plate Wednesday, MLB.com reports. "I was really encouraged," manager Terry Francona said. "I thought his receiving was actually really clean."
