Rob Gronkowski is probably one of the best bets out there, whether or not you think the Patriots will reach the Super Bowl.
You won't find it discussed in any medical journal, and it's not in your local shrink's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, but post-fantasy football depression is as real as a Rob Gronkowski touchdown spike, and we are all about to be afflicted.
Even though there are two weekends worth of NFL football remaining, this is the last week most fantasy junkies will set a football lineup until September. That's because the rosters we set for this weekend's conference championship games in Gridiron Challenge will be locked through the Super Bowl. Of course, that also means that selecting players who will win this week -- and thus get you two games worth of stats -- is just as important as choosing players who will perform well this weekend.
So before your case of PFFD sets in, let's savor the fact that the lockout ended and there even was an NFL campaign that allowed us to fulfill our fantasy football wishes. Then let's take a look at the best lineup options before you lock it in one last time. After that, we can watch three more games before the football withdrawal sets in.
Quarterbacks
Tom Brady (7.1), New England Patriots: So you used Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers last week, which means you have two open quarterback spots to fill. The good news is that they cost about the same as Brady does this week, so you can simply swap him in. The catch is that the Baltimore Ravens held quarterbacks to a league-low 8.7 points per game this season. Still, that shouldn't dissuade you from putting Brady in your lineup if you think the Pats will prevail over the Ravens. Two weeks of Brady should be hard to pass up.
Eli Manning (6.7), New York Giants: The San Francisco 49ers held opposing QBs to just 12.1 points per game this season, which is solid, but top-end quarterbacks have found ways to rack up stats. Case in point: Manning piled up 311 passing yards and two scores for 20 Gridiron Challenge points when the two teams played in November. Clearly, Manning and Brady are the two premiere quarterbacks remaining and should be in all lineups, unless you think the Niners or Ravens are going to the Super Bowl. ... MORE
