Another Year, Another Manning
By Andrew Feldman
ESPN.com
For the second year in a row, it was a Manning holding the Lombardi Trophy. However, the 2008 Manning surprised many as Eli Manning and the New York Giants ended the hopes of a perfect season for the New England Patriots and unofficially, gave 21-year-old Michael Sweeney the victory in ESPN.com's Gridiron Playoff Challenge. Sweeney's team. "Ima gunawin", composed of only Giants and Patriots and earned him 90 points to barely edge off his closest competitors by only one point.
Sweeney earned 18 points from Super Bowl MVP Manning who was only owned by 22.4 percent of Gridiron Playoff Challenge members. Most users felt confident in a Tom Brady (54 percent owned) versus Brett Farve (48.9 percent owned) matchup, but those selecting Manning were not disappointed. The weakest spot on Sweeney's roster was Giants running back Brandon Jacobs who was only able to put up four points with his 42 rushing yards.
The Gridiron Playoff Challenge season has ended, but be sure to check out all the free games offered on ESPN.com throughout 2008.
