Preview: The Broncos are in must-win mode as they play host to the reeling Chiefs in an AFC West battle. The Broncos' screen passing scheme should work well against the sluggish Kansas City front seven. Kansas City's lack of explosiveness in the passing game limits its emerging running game as Denver will look to stack the box against Jamaal Charles and force Matt Cassel to beat its veteran secondary.

Preview: Logic prevailed over legacy last week as the Colts sat their starters and opted for guaranteed health in the playoffs over a flawless record. This trend will continue in Orchard Park this week, as the Bills will likely face what will effectively be Indianapolis' second team. The Colts would be well served to get their league-worst running game untracked with rookie Donald Brown against the Bills' league-worst run defense in preparation for the playoffs. The Bills, for their part, have seen their decimated defense get some talent back in the lineup and will look to embolden their young and talented defense with a rousing home victory.

Preview: Jacksonville's generous defense has limited the impact of its potentially dominant running game by regularly giving up a volume of points to opponents, thus forcing the middling passing attack to drive the offense as the team plays from behind. For the Jaguars to finish the season .500 and keep their slight playoff hopes alive they'll need to curb Cleveland's raring tailback Jerome Harrison, who has an astounding 434 rushing yards in his past two games. In what should be a battle of power running games and conservative passing offenses, Cleveland's superior special teams might just determine the outcome.

Preview: More often than not the NFC East crown is captured in the final week and this season is no different as the Eagles make their first visit to Jerry Jones' new digs. The Cowboys will call on their physical running game and underneath passing game to Jason Witten to offset the Philadelphia pass rush and limit the Eagles' ball-hawking corners. The Eagles will look to their young corps of talented targets as the Cowboys' safeties have proved suspect to the deep ball.

Preview: The Lions' sloppy six-turnover loss in San Francisco is endemic of their enduring inability to sustain drives and protect the ball. Chicago will seek to replicate the 49ers' relentless series of blitzes and stunts as a means to pressure and fluster whoever lines up under center for the Lions. For Detroit to stave off the pressure and protect the ball it'll need its patchwork running game to keep the Bears' front seven honest with success on early downs. If this game were to come down to a field goal battle Detroit does at least boast the most blocked kicks in the league since 2001, with 17 swatted down.

Preview: The 49ers' ascent to respectability continued last week with a victory over Detroit that saw defensive coordinator Greg Manusky's effective blend of blitzes and coverages executed soundly. If Steven Jackson's back injury continues to keep him on the sideline the Rams would need Kenneth Darby and rookie Chris Ogbonnaya to capably perform in his place as the St. Louis passing attack has proved to be historically feeble this season. The 49ers will look to refocus on the running game and control this contest as they look to build toward a promising 2010 campaign.

Pittsburgh Steelers (9-7)		Miami Dolphins (7-9)
Preview: The Steelers remain alive in a convoluted AFC wild-card race and may have to pass their way into playoff contention against Miami's sieve of a secondary. Ben Roethlisberger will likely look deep to Santonio Holmes and Mike Wallace early and often as a means to loosen up Miami's tight man coverage and abuse its aging linebackers with underneath routes. Miami must look to shorten the game with a conservative running game in hopes of staving off Pittsburgh's re-emerging LaMarr Woodley-led pass rush.

New York Giants (8-8)		Minnesota Vikings (12-4)
Preview: New York unceremoniously departed Giants Stadium with its worst home loss in more than a decade. For the Giants to regain lost luster they'll need to soundly dominate the host Vikings, who may be in a position to sit many of their starters for the playoffs. The Vikings do, however, need to work on getting their struggling running game and offensive line in order against the Giants' suspect front seven.

Preview: Cincinnati's transformation, from a team known for its potentially potent passing offense and weak defense, into a ball-hawking and physical defense and power running attack on offense has proved successful as the Bengals have clinched just their second visit to the postseason since 1991. The Jets will look to pressure Carson Palmer regularly in hopes that the Cincinnati staff chooses to rest its franchise signal-caller as the Colts did last week. Both the Bengals and Jets will look to unleash their power running attacks on the opposing undersized front sevens in a game that promises to have the ferocity and physicality of a playoff battle.

Preview: The Falcons are looking to post consecutive winning seasons for the first time in franchise history as they face the suddenly emboldened Bucs. The Bucs will employ a steadfast commitment to the ground game in order to wear down an undersized Atlanta front seven with the resurgent Cadillac Williams. The Falcons will look to set up Tampa's gambling corners on play-action attempts in hopes of establishing an imposing early lead.

Preview: The Saints' inability to stop opposing running games, particularly from the inside, has allowed their past several opponents to control the tempo and pace of the game. For New Orleans to right its reeling defense, the Saints will effectively need to stack the box early against Carolina's talented running game and hope that their playmaking, but fallible, secondary can hold up in man coverage. Conversely, for the Panthers to curb the Saints' prolific offense they'll need to get some honest pressure from their front four, led by Julius Peppers, and allow their talented secondary to contain Drew Brees.

Preview: The Texans will need their sporadic pass rush to show up against the Patriots as they look to make the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. Their four sacks of Miami's Chad Henne last week are promising toward that end, as their secondary remains dangerously suspect to the deep ball. New England may limit its playbook as the Patriots could be facing these very Texans in the playoffs, so we can expect a somewhat conservative, run-heavy game plan to unfold.

Preview: Much like the Patriots-Texans matchup this game could be a forerunner to a playoff meeting between the Packers and Cardinals in the Arizona desert. These similarly trending teams have seen their potent passing attacks bolstered by surging running games in a meeting of rarely balanced and elite offenses. The ground games should dominate the day as both teams look to keep their franchise signal-callers upright as their playoffs fates are firmly cemented.

Preview: In a matchup of dramatically disparate offenses the downtrodden Redskins head west to take on the confident Chargers. Unequivocally the hottest team in football, the Chargers have relied on their game secondary and the precise play of Philip Rivers on their way to the second seed in the AFC playoffs. Yet with no chance of catching the Colts for home-field advantage there is little reason for San Diego to trot out its best, giving the Redskins and their talented defense a shot at a needed late-season win.

Preview: The Titans' sloppy play last week saw them commit eight penalties that cost them 61 yards during the first half in a blowout loss to San Diego that ended their scant playoff hopes. The Seahawks have devolved into a shallow roster over the past several seasons and are struggling to find an identity into the season's final week. The real story of interest in this contest is Chris Johnson's pursuit of 2,000 rushing yards (he has 1,872) and possibly the all-time total yards season record (currently 2,429 by Marshall Faulk) if he can tally 75 yards from scrimmage. The Titans' offense will be ardent in getting Johnson to his goal as the Seattle front seven has struggled against the run all season.

Preview: Baltimore sabotaged an otherwise quality effort last week in Pittsburgh by committing 11 penalties for 113 yards, including two that negated would-be touchdowns. If the Ravens hope to keep their scant playoff hopes alive they'll need to protect the ball and limit their mistakes against an exploitable, but opportunistic, Oakland defense.
