Joseph Taylor, or JoeT7247 as ESPN.com members may know him, fulfilled every user's bracket dream and won the 2009 version of ESPN.com's Tournament Challenge, along with the $10,000 grand prize.
The New Jersey native had only five total losses in his winning bracket. Some of his notable "upset picks" were Western Kentucky over Illinois, Wisconsin over Florida State, Dayton over West Virginia and Cleveland State over Wake Forest. Taylor also had a perfect South bracket and didn't lose a matchup from the Elite Eight on.
When it came to strategy, Taylor had a set plan for his picks. "My strategy was to pick three to five upsets that seem to happen every year. My lock team was North Carolina, and I had a few upsets in mind. I actually picked Cleveland State because of Woody Paige on 'Around the Horn,'" said Taylor.
Taylor has been a longtime fan of Tournament Challenge, playing in the event since it first was introduced to ESPN.com users in 1999, but has never come close to winning like he did this year. When he is not playing "bracketologist" he works as a facility service and ground supervisor for Schering-Plough Corporation.
