Registration
To enter, fill out the free game registration.

After registering, you are ready to play the ESPN Winter X Games Challenge. A valid ESPN membername and password will be used as an identifier to sign in to play, and to keep track of your team's score and standing. If you are already a registered ESPN account holder, you do not need to go through this necessary process, although if you are under 18 you must obtain the consent of your parent or legal guardian (as explained in the Official Rules). If you've had an account in the past but forgot any part of it, find your account information.

Name Your Entry
After you have signed in, you will be prompted with a screen that will ask you to create your team. Once you have named your team, click on the "Submit Team Name" button.

Create Your Team
ESPN's Winter X Games Challenge teams are composed of 14 athletes which must fit under the 112 point maximum.

In order for a roster to be complete, all 14 roster slots must be filled by a player while not exceeding the point limit. Point values are based on the athlete's past performance and current ranking. Athletes can be moved onto your team by choosing them and clicking on the "Select Athlete" button as shown below. Players should be added to your team by the Game Start on Wednesday, February 2, 2000 at 12:30pm ET in order to optimize your chance to win prizes. You will automatically be brought through the process of selecting 14 athletes and entering your tiebreaker when you first create your team.

Create or Join a Group
You have the option to group yourself with friends, co-workers, or completely random fans by joining or creating a group. Within each group, your entry will be automatically ranked. Most of the groups in ESPN Winter X Games Challenge are public and can be joined at any time. If you want to play with a specific group of people you know, create a private group and make it only accessible to those whom you have given the group password. The creator of a group sets the group's name, motto and password. Groups can have up to 50 members. All of this is easily found on the Group Directory page. There is no prize awarded for winning your group.

Game Play
Your roster locks each discipline at it's commencement, beginning with the qualifying for Skier Cross: 12:30pm ET Wednesday, February 2. After that time, you will not be able to change your roster for that particular discipline. You can register to play X Games Challenge for the duration of the X Games, and entries received after 12:30pm ET Wednesday, February 2 are still eligible for prizes. However, the tiebreakers will lock after the commencement of the first discipline. To clarify: team managers may sign up for the contest at any point. However, team owners will not be able to select athletes for categories for which the event has already started. The events will lock whith the "qualifying" for each discipline in the order listed on the Event Schedule. In order to maximize your chances of winning, team managers should be signed up before 12:30pm ET Wednesday, February 2. The team owners who sign up after 12:30pm ET Wednesday, February 2, will lose 8 points for each discipline that has locked.
